Naseeruddin Shah and Ratna Pathak Shah are not only one of the most admired actors of Hindi cinema but also one of the most admired couples. They both are NSD graduates. In a throwback interview with Hauterrfly, Pathak Shah was asked about her inter-faith marriage with the Nishant actor.

The actress was quoted saying, ‘Naseer’s family surprisingly didn’t make a fuss at all. Not once did anybody ever even mention the ‘C’ word, convert. Nobody said anything about me. They just accepted me for what I am.’

She added, “I’m very, very lucky because I’ve heard of people who have trouble settling down. Afterwards, I’ve been friends with all of them, including my mother-in-law, who was a very homebound kind of person but extremely liberal in every situation.”

Ratna Pathak Shah is one of the finest actors we have in the country who has a respectable body of work both on stage and in cinema. However, she has not been getting film offers and the same revelation was made by her at Cannes 2024 when she was speaking to Brut.

Shah said, “I don’t know how to blame actors for that because these are the things that are asked and are focused on. Depending on the number of followers, people are getting work today. That is what I have heard. Nobody approached me for work because I am not on Instagram, so maybe can than be a reason possibly.”

The actress added, “I have been completely unemployed for a whole year now. So these are the kind of things that do seem to matter a lot. What to do also? Where will someone go and learn acting from if they want to learn the craft? It’s quite difficult.”
