When Jaideep Ahlawat thought Aamir Khan's video call message after 'Paatal Lok' was a 'prank'

Actor Jaideep Ahlawat, who is all set to appear in Sujoy Ghosh’s mystery thriller Jaane Jaan on Netflix, recently revealed how actor Aamir Khan wanted to get on a video call with him. In a conversation with Humans of Bombay, the 43-year-old stated that after his power-packed performance in the 2020 series Paatal Lok, the Lagaan actor inquired about his approach to acting.

While recalling the extravagant incident, the _Gangs of Wasseypur_ star shared how just a week after the release of the Prime Video-based thriller series, Aamir Khan sent him a text saying, “Hi, this is Aamir Khan, please let me know whenever you are free, I will call.”

To this, Jaideep thought it was a ‘prank’. On showing the text to his wife, Jyoti Ahlawat, the two concluded, “Ye sahi nahi ho sakta (This can’t be true).”

On receiving Aamir Khan’s call

Jaideep Ahlawat said how upon hearing the actor’s voice, he was sure it was Aamir Khan. Once on the phone, the _Danga_l star asked him if they could talk via video call. After Jaideep agreed, the two ended up talking for more than half-an hour.

As part of the conversation, Jaideep said that Aamir was so inspired by Paatal Lok that he wanted to know about his acting process and methods. In addition, An Action Hero actor also said, “You (Aamir Khan) are asking me about my process? You are the master of this, of preparing for a character, starting with the look of the character.”

Not just Aamir Khan, Jaideep also shared how his Gangs Of Wasseypur co-star Manoj Bajpayee also called him. He added that the second or third day after the release, they both spoke for about 30 to 35 minutes.

Jaideep Ahlawat is known for his performances in movies such as Gangs of Wasseypur, Commando: A One Man Army, Raazi, and many others.

The actor has won praise for his character Hathiram Chaudhary in the web series Paatal Lok, produced by Anushka Sharma and Karnesh Sharma. In the latest, Jaideep is gearing up for the season’s power-packed second edition. Based on reports, the Avinash Arun and Prosit Roy-directed thriller is expected to be out in February 2024.

In Sujoy Ghosh’s Jaane Jaan, which is based on the 2005 novel ‘The Devotion of Suspect X’ by Keigo Higashino, the actor will be seen alongside Kareena Kapoor Khan and Vijay Varma.
