Amid the ongoing conflict between India and Pakistan, Anushka Sharma’s throwback interview talking about her father has gone viral.
In an interview with ETimes, the actress was quoted saying, “Kargil was a tough one. I was too young at that time, but I was scared of seeing my mother. She would always have the news channel switched on throughout the day and would get upset when casualties were announced.”
The actress added, “When my dad called, he could not say much, but I would go on talking about my school, boyfriends and everything else without realising that he was fighting a war.”
Anushka continued, “I take pride in saying that I am an army officer’s daughter even more than being an actor.”
Anushka Sharma says there is too much pressure to be a “perfect parent” and she and cricketer-husband Virat Kohli are anything but that. Sharma shares two children, daughter Vamika (three) and six-month-old son Akaay with Kohli.
The 37-year-old actor said it’s okay for parents to own up to their mistakes in front of children.
“There’s too much pressure to be, like, this perfect parent, and we are not perfect parents. Like, we will complain about things, and then it’s okay to admit it to them (children). Just complain about it. That’s my thing.”
“So, they know that it will be all flawed. Imagine, kids having to live up to, like, ‘Oh, my parents are like…’ I feel like owning your mistakes in front of your kids,” Sharma said at a brand promotion event.
