Years after Game of Thrones ended, Kit Harington and Sophie Turner are reuniting on screen, but this time in a very different context. The actors, who famously played siblings Jon Snow and Sansa Stark in the HBO fantasy epic, recently spoke about how awkward it felt to film a romantic scene together for their upcoming Gothic horror film, The Dreadful.
While promoting the film, Turner and Harington joked about the experience, admitting that their long history as on-screen siblings made the kiss feel deeply uncomfortable.
“We’re like brother and sister,” Turner said, calling the moment “dreadful,” while Harington echoed her sentiment, laughing as he described the scene as “absolutely awful.” A video has also been doing the rounds showing the behind-the-scenes from the kissing scene. While they look absolutely steamy while performing the sequence, Turner can be seen gagging right after the scene ends!
Speaking to Entertainment Tonight, filmmaker Natasha Kermani said, “In this scene, Sophie and Kit had a big moment together that ended in a kiss, which they both joked they were totally dreading. When cameras rolled? Absolute pros. They nailed it and sold the magic. The second I yelled ‘cut’… *poof* magic gone.“

View AllThe two explained that after spending nearly a decade portraying family members and developing a close off-screen bond, switching to a romantic dynamic proved challenging. The discomfort, they said, was not due to the script, but rather their strong sibling-like rapport shaped by Game of Thrones.
The Dreadful, a Gothic horror drama, marks a rare reunion for the pair following the conclusion of the globally popular fantasy series. Their candid comments have since gone viral, with fans amused by how strongly the actors still associate each other with their iconic sibling roles.
Despite the awkwardness, both stars appeared to take the experience in stride, sharing laughs and highlighting how their long-standing friendship made the moment memorable, even if slightly cringeworthy.
