In a candid conversation with Firstpost, Game of Thrones star Sophie Turner opened up about her admiration for Indian cinema, and it wasn’t the usual, surface-level praise you often hear from Hollywood names. The British actress, best known for her role as Sansa Stark, didn’t just acknowledge Bollywood’s global pull, she named two of its biggest stars as her personal favourites, putting Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone at the heart of her Bollywood affection.
When Turner, who was last seen in Steal, was asked to pick her favourite Indian actor, she didn’t hesitate. “My gosh, that’s tough! I mean, Shah Rukh Khan is the GOAT, right?” she said with a smile, referring to him as the greatest of all time in Indian cinema. But she didn’t stop there. “But I love Deepika Padukone, I think she’s amazing,” she added, acknowledging Padukone’s powerful screen presence and wide appeal.
Her admiration wasn’t limited to performances either. Turner said she has enjoyed watching Indian films such as RRR, praising its grand visuals and blockbuster energy, a sentiment shared by many global viewers who have discovered S.S. Rajamouli’s epic as a gateway into Indian cinema.
Turner’s affection for Bollywood went further than just admiration. “I’d actually love to be in a Bollywood movie,” she revealed. “I would love to dance in a Bollywood film. I think it’s such a spectacle. It is unlike anything we will ever see on a Western film set.” Her comments underline a growing trend among international actors who not only respect Indian cinema from afar, but also genuinely fantasise about being part of its larger-than-life storytelling tradition.

It’s notable that Turner’s connection to India isn’t entirely detached. Though she has not acted in Indian films, she visited the country in 2018 to attend the wedding celebrations of her then brother-in-law Nick Jonas and Priyanka Chopra in Jodhpur, one of the major social moments that brought her closer to Indian pop culture.

View AllHer choices in naming SRK and Deepika reflect not only their stature within Bollywood, but also how Indian cinema continues to resonate with global audiences in ways that transcend borders. In an era where East meets West creatively more often than ever, Sophie Turner’s affectionate shout-out to Shah Rukh Khan as the GOAT and Deepika Padukone as her favourite Indian actress feels like a cultural moment in itself, a bridge between fan worlds, and a reminder that cinema’s influence is truly global.
Sophie Turner was last seen leading the six-episode British heist thriller _Steal_, which premiered on Prime Video on 21 January 2026. In the series, she plays Zara, an ordinary office worker at a pension-fund company whose routine day spirals into chaos when a gang of violent thieves forces her and her best friend, Luke (Archie Madekwe), to take part in a high-stakes £4 billion robbery. Alongside co-star Jacob Fortune-Lloyd, Turner anchors the smart, suspense-driven narrative that blends thrilling crime drama with psychological depth, pushing her far beyond the period and fantasy roles that defined her earlier career. Steal has been noted for its brisk pacing, layered twists and Turner’s grounded performance at its centre, marking her most prominent screen role since her 2025 thriller Trust and hinting at her continued evolution in challenging contemporary projects.
