In his upcoming film Gully Boy , Ranveer Singh slips into the character of an aspiring rapper from the streets of Mumbai. The trailer has left many impressed by his effortless rapping in ‘Asli Hip Hop’ along with Alia Bhatt’s portrayal of Sakina but some social media users have drawn comparisons with Eminem’s critically acclaimed 8 Mile.
A Facebook page Indian Rap Memes even shared a mash up of _Gully Boy’_s audio from the trailer to clips from Eminem’s film directed by Curtis Hanson.
While the highly-anticipated Zoya Akhtar directorial traces the rise of Mumbai-based rappers Divine and Naved Shaikh aka Naezy, 8 Mile is also loosely inspired by Eminem’s journey to becoming the most influential name in rap.
Netizens have also pointed out that some scenes, including the one where Ranveer is performing in front of a crowd is almost identical to Eminem’s film.

Gully Boy (2019) so blatantly copies 8 Mile (2002) that in some scenes framing, character placement, lights and even action is exactly the same: pic.twitter.com/YIZfDn4Ehs
