Shah Rukh Khan and Jawan director Atlee have immense love and mutual admiration for each other. They developed a close bond while working on the sets of blockbuster film Jawan, released last year. On various occasions, both the actor and director have been captured heaping praises on each other. At the recently held Zee Cine Awards 2024, Atlee was seen touching his feet before taking onto the stage in a display of respect and love for Shah Rukh.
In a heartwarming video shared by a paparazzo, Atlee, as he clinched the Best Director award in Mumbai, can be seen making his way to the stage to receive the award. Before heading to the stage, the director stood up with folded hands amidst the applause from the audience. Then, the video captured the delightful moment as the Bigil director caressed the _Pathaan_ actor’s feet, who was seated next to him.
Being the man he is, Shah Rukh Khan held his shoulders and tried to stop him. Then, he hugged and kissed the director while congratulating him on his win. As can be seen in the video, the bond between the Dunki actor and Atlee exceeds a professional collaboration.
For those unversed, Jawan, directed by Atlee, also featured Nayanthara, Vijay Sethupathi, Deepika Padukone, Priyamani, Sanya Malhotra, Ridhi Dogra, Lehar Khan, Girija Oak, and Sanjeeta Bhattacharya besides Shah Rukh Khan. The film marked the first collaboration between Shah Rukh Khan and Atlee and was the director’s Bollywood debut. Jawan, a monstrous success, reportedly collected a whopping Rs 1,160 crore at the global box office.
Earlier, during the ABP Conclave, Atlee spoke about his admiration for the 58-year-old actor and said, “I love all his films, DDLJ, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Om Shanti Om, Chennai Express, I can go on and on… For me, he is the face of Indian cinema to the world. So, it is a dream to work with Mr Shah Rukh sir.”
Meanwhile, the filmmaker is currently working on his next film, Baby John, directed by Kalees. The action entertainer stars Varun Dhawan, Keerthy Suresh and Wamiqa Gabbi in the lead roles. It is slated to release on May 31 this year. Baby John has been produced under the collaboration of Murad Khetani’s Cine1 Studios, Atlee and Priya’s A For Apple Studios, and Jyoti Deshpande for Jio Studios.
