After considerable hype, music composer Ariana Grande finally released her music video titled ’thank u, next’ on Friday. The pop star had added to the frenzy circling the video with constant teases on social media, which suggested that the song would include references to iconic romantic comedy films in the recent Hollywood history.
The relationship-based single draws analogies to Mean Girls, Bring It On, 13 Going on 30 and Legally Blonde. The song uses these pop culture touchstones to establish its narrative smoothly. The video is filled with humorous cameos by the actors of the films. However, a special mention goes out to Kris Jenner’s appearance as Ariana’s mother.
Grande’s presence on YouTube has been considerable in the recent past with her four part docu-series of her tour, called Dangerous Women Diaries, which released recently. Dangerous Woman Diaries has been directed by Alfredo Flores and produced by Scooter Braun and JD Roth’s GoodStory Entertainment. The show chronicles Ariana’s tour and features all the songs from the concert as well as generous glimpses of the pop star’s live behind-the-curtains and on-the-road experiences, especially after the Manchester attack.
The episodes are being streamed on YouTube for free, however, YouTube Red subscribers may watch the full episode. Watch the video here .
