It’s enriching to play a fictional character, but it’s a responsibility to play a real-life character. From getting into the skin of it, to adapting its nature and getting to know its mind to bring believability to a role - a lot goes into depicting real-life characters. A selected number of actors have brought authenticity to such lives, making them seem real and not the other way round.

Rani Mukerji - Mrs Chatterjee Vs. Norway

Rani Mukerji recently received the prestigious honour of a National Film Award for her incredibly touching and fierce performance in Mrs Chatterjee Vs. Norway. She delivers a compelling act as an Indian mother who goes all out for her children and fights a foreign nation to get their custody, depicting a mother’s unconditional love for her children. The film is inspired by the real-life story of Sagarika Chakraborty and Anurup Bhattacharya, an Indian immigrant couple whose children were taken away by Norwegian authorities.

Vikrant Massey - Sector 36

Vikrant Massey kept viewers on the edge of their seats with a chilling performance in Sector 36, a film inspired by a true story based on Nithari killings in Noida, Uttar Pradesh. Vikrant, known for his on-screen versatility, impressed all by playing a serial killer. Not only did he give a goosebump-worthy performance, but he also left everyone shell-shocked with the psychopathic behaviour of his character.

There are many reasons as to why Vikrant Massey and Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s 12th Fail was a success both theatrically and on the digital platform. It’s a must watch and there are enough reasons for it. There are reasons why 12th Fail managed to pass with flying colours despite not having anything that is fancy.

Don’t underestimate our audience

We must understand that viewers have evolved with the OTT giving us the much needed exposure to world cinema. They are no longer happy to be fed on garbage for long. And rightly so because filmmakers have underestimated the cinema appreciation taste of the audiences for long. And Massey has bagged a National Award for his performance.

Alaya F - Srikanth

Alaya F, the rising Gen Z star, starred in the acclaimed film Srikanth, a biographical drama on the life of Srikanth Bolla, a visually impaired industrialist who defied norms to make his way from rural India to becoming the first visually impaired student at MIT. Alaya F added soul and heart to the plot by playing Veera Swathi, Srikanth’s love interest turned wife (in real life). Despite being fresh on the block, Alaya F brought a profound sense of believability to the role, proving to be the right fit for it.
