Uri rules box office on opening weekend with Rs 35.73 cr; The Accidental Prime Minister earns Rs 12 cr

Two of the most highly-anticipated films,  The Accidental Prime Minister  and  Uri: The Surgical Strike , released on 11 January. The Vicky Kaushal-starrer on Friday earned  Rs 8.20 crore . It went on to rake in Rs 12.43 crore and Rs 15.10 crore on Saturday and Sunday, respectively. The film’s current earnings stand at Rs 35.73 crore. Trade analysts also provided a break up of the day-wise growth the film has witnessed since its release. Also starring Yami Gautam, it is expected to perform well even on the following weekdays.

Whereas, The Accidental Prime Minister based on book of the same name by Sanjaya Baru amassed Rs 4.50 crore on the opening day. Box Office India writes that it has earned Rs 12 crore so far. The controversy surrounding Anupam Kher’s film helped in attracting audiences to cinemas.
