While Triptii Dimri garnered critical acclaim for her performances in Bulbull, Qala and Laila Majnu, it was Ranbir Kapoor starrer Animal, which made her an overnight sensation.
However, her character of Zoya in the film garnered backlash over its presentation along with _Animal_ ’s glorifying toxic masculinity.
The actress opened up about it and revealed why she took that role. “For me, I don’t like staying in my comfort zone. With Bulbbul and Qala, I found that comfort, and while I love drama, being on those sets always energised me. However, when Animal came along, I found it truly challenging,” said Triptii at the India Today Mumbai Conclave 2024.
“As an actor, it’s important to take on something that pushes you. Every time I get a role, I feel like it’s both scary and challenging,” she said.
Talking about the backlash, she asserted, “I would approach Zoya’s character exactly the same way I did. As humans, we all have different shades—good, bad, and even ugly. Films allow us to explore these sides.”
Triptii will be next seen in Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video alongside Rajkummar Rao. While the trailer of the movie has garnered praises from the netizens, the lead actress is now getting brutally trolled for her dance steps in film’s song titled Mere Mehboob, which is choreographed by Ganesh Acharya.
Directed by Raaj Shaandilyaa of Dream Girl franchise fame, _Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video_ also stars Vijay Raaz, Mallika Sherawat, Mast Ali, Archana Puran Singh, Mukesh Tiwari, Archana Patel, Rakesh Bedi, Tiku Talsania and Ashwini Kalsekar in prominent roles. The film is set to release on 11th October and will lock horns with Alia Bhatt’s Jigra at the box office.
