The Indian Premier League is back and undoubtedly the fever of IPL is gripping the nation all over again. While fans are currently going all out to support their favourite team and players, in 2022 the cricket tournament grabbed headlines for all the wrong reasons. The King Khan of Bollywood and the owner of Kolkata Knight Riders, Shah Rukh Khan got embroiled in the infamous Wankhede Stadium fiasco, where he beat a security guard followed by which he was banned for 5 years in the stadium situated in Mumbai.
While Shah Rukh Khan garnered severe criticism for his action, KKR co-owner and his longtime collaborator Juhi Chawla supported him and tweeted, “If today SRK were to get upset and quit the IPL I wonder if there d be any people watching the matches .. In wankhede or any stadium !!!”
In one of his old appearances in Aap Ki Adalat, Shah Rukh Khan revealed that he was triggered by a word used by the security staff that was religious in nature. “Yes I was very angry and upset. My kids were there and I thought someone… Maybe they had a rule, that hatao yaha se. I told him, these are our kids and we are taking them. I just said this. There was a person there who said a word which I, as a Delhi person, felt like it was an abusive word. Even though the same word in Marathi is also rude. Thoda sa religious, galat tha woh (It was religious, it was wrong). I then lost my cool, main pagal hogaya and I went to hit him,” the superstar recalled.
