'The Raja Saab' box office day 2: Prabhas film sees sharp dip on Saturday but eyes Rs. 100 crore opening weekend

Prabhas’ much-awaited film ‘The Raja Saab’ has opened to a thunderous response at the box office, registering strong numbers across languages within its first two days of release. The film has already crossed the Rs. 90 crore mark in India, driven largely by its dominant performance in the Telugu-speaking markets. However, Day 2 saw a sharp decline in the collection despite Saturday being a partial holiday.

‘The Raja Saab’ kicked off its theatrical run with an early Thursday collection of Rs. 9.15 crore, entirely from Telugu markets. On Day 1 (Friday), the film collected Rs. 53.75 crore, taking its total to over Rs. 60 crore within the first 24 hours of its official release.

However, on its second day in theatres, the film added Rs. 27.83 crore to its tally. Despite a noticeable drop of 48.22 percent from Day 1, the overall numbers remained strong, especially in its core Telugu belt.

As per early trade estimates, ‘The Raja Saab’s total India nett collection now stands at Rs. 90.73 crore in just two days.

Language-wise breakup

The Telugu version continues to lead the charge with Rs. 78.68 crore, accounting for the bulk of the film’s earnings. The Hindi version has collected Rs. 11.2 crore, while the Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam versions have contributed Rs. 0.55 crore, Rs. 0.16 crore and Rs. 0.14 crore respectively.

Trade analysts point out that the film’s massive opening can be attributed to Prabhas’ strong fan base, festive weekend advantage and aggressive promotions ahead of release. While the drop on Saturday indicates mixed word of mouth in certain regions, the overall box office trajectory remains solid.

All eyes are now on the Sunday collections, which are expected to further boost the film’s total and push ‘The Raja Saab’ closer to the coveted Rs. 100 crore mark in its opening weekend.
