‘The Kapil Sharma Show’ actress Sumona Chakravarti took to her Instagram to narrate a shocking and harrowing experience amid the Maratha quota protests in Mumbai. She seems to have deleted the post as the comment section piled up.
The actress said in her post, “12:30 this afternoon. I’m driving from Colaba to Fort. And suddenly-my car is blocked by a mob. One man with an orange stole banging on my bonnet, smirking.”
She added, “Pressing his protruding belly against my car. Shimmying in front of me like he’s proving some sick point. His friends banging on my windows, shouting “Jai Maharashtra!” & laughing. We moved a little ahead & repeat of the same thing.”
Sumona continued, “I was tempted to record a video but quickly realised that this might provoke/instigate them further. So I didn’t. It’s frightening when you realize that no matter who you are, or where you are, law and order can collapse in seconds.”
She further wrote- “Peaceful protests exist- we’ve seen them for causes far more urgent. And yet, those are the ones the police clamp down on. But here? Absolute lawlessness.”
One wrote- “Article 19 (1) (e) and (g): All citizens have right to reside and settle in any part of the territory of India;and
to practise any profession, or to carry on any occupation, trade or business.”
A second said, “Instead of worrying about the issue and finding a solution, people are making whataboutery comments about Bengal and even asking her to leave.”
A third commented- “Ma’am, how can you understand the problems of ordinary people like us? The Maratha community that has gathered in Mumbai has gathered to demand reservation.”
The comment added, “And whoever has gone to Mumbai, every person comes from the farming class. Their demand for reservation is that they have left their families, their businesses, their farms, everything, and today they have come to Mumbai only to demand reservation.”
