In the ongoing investigation of Assamese singer’s Zubeen Garg’s death, it has now been discovered by the SIT that financial transactions worth Rs 1 crore passed through bank accounts belonging to his bodyguard Nandeshwar Borah and an associate named Baishya over the past four to five years.
A report says, “Assam Police have arrested two personal security officers (PSOs) of late singer Zubeen Garg after uncovering financial transactions totalling over Rs 1.1 crore from their accounts.”
And now, fans have launched ‘Justice for Zubeen Garg’ campaign as the case continues to get murkier and the campaign has found support from the late singer’s wife Garima Garg. She was quoted saying, “I have a request for all of you so that he (Zubeen) gets justice.”
All of you should write on social media with the hashtag #JusticeForZubeenGarg every day… We have been waiting patiently for 22 days to know what happened (in Singapore). We don’t know what happened till now, but we should get justice."
She added, “All of us have a platform (social media). Besides praying, all of you should write #JusticeForZubeenGarg every day, demand justice every day, request for justice every day, pray for justice every day.”
No legal counsel for the accused?
Amid the investigation that continues to get murkier, The All Assam Lawyers’ Association has issued a statement that reads- “The death under mysterious circumstances has given rise to suspicion, mystery and a sense of conspiracy. Multiple FIRs have been lodged with the police in different parts of the State. Allowing their conscience to defend the accused will be a historical mistake for the legal fraternity."
Zubeen Garg: More than just a singer
Ask his fans and admirers that the late singer was a philanthropist, messiah who became God for the state of Assam. During the second wave of the pandemic back in 2021, Zubeen Garg and his wife, offered the state government to convert a two-storey building into a Covid-care faculty. This was in Guwhati and the building could accommodate as 30 patients.
