The Buckingham Murders will mark Kareena’s return to the silver screens after her outing in Aamir Khan starrer Laal Singh Chaddha. She was last seen in Netflix thriller Jaane Jaan. The Sujoy Ghosh film also had Jaideep Ahlawat and Vijay Varma in pivotal roles.

The Buckingham Murders premieres in London: Kareena's emotional note to Ektaa Kapoor's shoutout

Kareena Kapoor Khan garnered quite a lot of praise for her acting prowess in Sujoy Ghosh’s crime-drama, Jaane Jaan. All eyes are now on her next, The Buckingham Murders. Helmed by Hansal Mehta, the much-anticipated film premiered at the 67th BFI London Film Festival on Saturday, 14 October. An excited Kareena Kapoor took to her Instagram handle and shared a bunch of stills from The Buckingham Murders. In her elaborate note, the actress reflected on the journey of making the film with Hansal Mehta as well as Ekta Kapoor, who bankrolled it.

Kareena’s note also mentioned how she always longed to play a character like Jasmeet Bhamra. “Jas was a character I have been waiting to play for the last 23 years, being a huge fan of the detective series genre… watching everything from Karamchand to Helen Mirren in Prime Suspect to Agatha Christie in Hercule Poirot to Kate Winslet in Mare of Easttown, I was just dying to be that detective woman,” she said.

The Buckingham Murders also mark Kareena’s debut as a producer. She added, “I couldn’t be more nervous and excited as an actor and a first-time producer… I feel so odd writing that… but I feel really cool…”

What Ektaa Kapoor said on The Buckingham Murders

Co-producer Ektaa, too, shared a few stills from the film and expressed her gratitude. She wrote, “The London premiere of. #thebuckinghammurders has been overwhelming ! Congrats co producer @kareenakapoorkhan n director saab @hansalmehta ! Excited #gratitude”
