SS Rajamouli’s blockbuster film RRR has added another feather to its cap. The Oscar-winning film has been adapted into a Broadway play by Japan’s 110-year-old Takarazuka Revue, an all-female musical theatre group. The filmmaker, who is in Japan, with his son-producer, SS Karthikeya, attended the special screenings of his hit film RRR and shared pictures and videos of the event. Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Rajamouli shared his proud moment and expressed his gratitude for such a warm welcome from fans.
The celebrated director shared some glimpses of the occasion. Firstly, there was a video showing the audience clapping loudly for the director inside the theatre, while Rajamouli was over the moon and could be seen waving at everyone, smiling, and greeting the crowd with folded hands. In another clip, Rajamouli is seen exiting the venue and people stand to give him a standing ovation.
There was a picture where he could be seen posing with the actors. While the filmmaker chose a blue kurta paired with a colourful shawl for the occasion, others were seen clad in white outfits.
Sharing the post on X (formerly known as Twitter), SS Rajamouli wrote, “It’s an honour that our _RRR_ has been adapted as a musical by the 110-year-old Takarazuka company. Thank you, Japanese audience, for embracing the Broadway play of RRR just like the film itself. Overwhelmed by your response… Can’t appreciate all the girls enough for your energy, talent, and meticulousness in the show. ARIGATO GOZAIMASU.”
Notably, ARIGATO GOZAIMASU loosely translates to ‘Thank you very much.’
