The film centres on an 18-year-old student who becomes entangled in an inappropriate relationship with her teacher after she writes a sex story for a writing assignment in his class. The intimate scenes between Martin and Jenna left cinephiles disgusted, with users taking to social media to express disappointment as ‘gross’ and ‘disturbing’. During a roundtable discussion with The Hollywood Reporter, Jenna Ortega said that her decision was fuelled by past experiences throughout her decade-long career. “When I went into Wednesday, I really put my foot down and made it clear that everything that I had to say mattered and was heard,” the actress added.
