Sitaare Zameen Par: Aamir Khan refuses to accept the cuts suggested by CBFC, release date likely to be stalled- Details inside

Aamir Khan’s Sitaare Zameen Par is a spiritual sequel to his 2007 hit Taare Zameen Par. The film is slated to release on June 20 but as per a report by Bollywood Hungama, may have hit a roadblock due to the censor board.

A source was quoted saying, “The CBFC have asked for two cuts. Aamir Khan feels the film should be passed without these cuts. He and director R S Prasanna have made the film with a lot of thought. Certain scenes and dialogues, when seen in context, seem completely appropriate.”

It added, “With Aamir Khan not accepting the cuts, the censor certificate wasn’t awarded to Sitaare Zameen Par. Aamir now plans to once again meet the CBFC Examining Committee on Monday and put forward his point of view. Hopefully, a solution will be achieved and the CBFC will pass the film on June 16. Once that’s done, the advance booking of the film will be thrown open. As per rules, cinemas can’t sell tickets in the absence of a censor certificate.”

Aamir Khan , who is gearing up for Sitaare Zameen Par, finally addressed the backlash he faced when his picture with Türkiye President Erdogan went viral during Operation Sindoor.

Speaking on Aap Ki Adaalat, the actor said, “Turkey did a very wrong thing, and every Indian has been hurt by that. A few years ago, there was an earthquake in Turkey. The Indian government was the first to help them then.”

Khan added, “At that time, even our government didn’t know, just like I didn’t when I went to meet Erdogan, that they’d do this to us seven years later. We extended our hand in friendship and helped them during a crisis, and this is what they do to us?”
