Salman Khan, the undisputed champion at the box office, has arrived once again at the ticket windows to give Eidi to his fans with Sikandar. The massy action thriller is directed by A. R. Murugadoss, who is known for helming movies like Ghajini, Holiday, Sarkar (Tamil), Darbar, and others.
While the trailer and songs have garnered praise from fans, with Rashmika Mandanna and Salman ’s camaraderie being one of the highlights, does it live up to the sky-high expectations of audiences? Let’s find out…
The story starts with a flight, which goes to Rajkot where Arjun Pradhan (Prateik Smita Patil), a spoiled son of minister Pradhan (Sathyaraj) tries to take an advantage of a woman and Sanjay Rajkot aka Sikandar (Salman Khan) makes a massy action-packed entry and beats Arjun and his bouncers.
As Minister comes to know about this, he instructs an encounter specialist cop from Haryana named Prakash (Kishore) to arrest and kill him. However, when he enters Rajkot, Prakash finds out that Sanjay is the last king of Rajkot and is loved and respected by people. Saisri (Rashmika Mandanna), a kind hearted woman and Sanjay’s wife, is the person always saves him from danger indirectly. While Sikandar also loves Saisri, he is not give Saisri enough time because of his responsibilities as the king.
After celebrating their first meet anniversary, Saisri comes to know that she is pregnant, while she rushes to Sanjay to tell this good news, one of the employees arrives at his palace and reveals that because of greed unknowingly he has sold barood from Sanjay’s mines to a person, who was behind Punjab bomb blast. Now, Prakash makes a plan that if that employee gets killed, Sanjay will turn suspect. As people try to kill that employee in the mine, Sanjay comes with his people and beat them up. As Saisri comes behind Sanjay and saves him from a blast, the granules hit her which leads to her death. As Sanjay is completely shattered and regrets that he didn’t gave her enough time, doctor tells him that Saisri had registered for the organ donation. After some days, Sanjay comes to know that Saisri’s eyes, lungs and heart are donated to 3 patients in Mumbai.
He goes to the financial capital of the country with his people hiding his identity. He meets a slum kid from Dharavi, Fakaruddin (who has Saisri’s lungs, a girl named Nisha (Anjini Dhawan) who got Saisri’s heart and a Brahmin married girl Vaidehi (Kajal Aggarwal) from Matunga, who has Saisri’s eyes.
After meeting them and making them smile by solving their problems, Sanjay decides to leave Mumbai. However, he stucks in the traffic due to Pradhan’s rally. Arjun, who finds out that and chases Sanjay and people to kill them but due to an accident Arjun gets killed.
Holding Sanjay responsible for this Pradhan wants to seek revenge by killing those three patients, who have organs of Saisri. Will he succeed in this or Sanjay will save them?
At the heart, Sikandar is a heartwarming emotional family drama which seamlessly turns into a massy actioner without losing the core essence of it.
Director ARM has once again delivered a delightful massy treat for fans with the elements of seetimaar action sequences and touching moments. The film also has a social message of organ donation, which is conveyed in a subtle yet impactful manner.
Talking about the performances, Sikandar is a tailor-made role for Salman and he own it with his onscreen swag and charisma. Rashmika Mandanna shines as Saisri’s with her innocence making a special place in your heart. Sathyaraj is great as menacing Pradhan while Prateik, Kajal, Anjini and Sharman Joshi have done their roles to the T.
On the whole, Sikandar is a perfect Eidi for this festive weekend.
