Language: Hindi Cast: Shefali Shah, Jaideep Ahlawat, Swanand Kirkire Director: Avinash Arun There is something about nostalgia and first love. They are like moody mirages that keep flashing in front of your eyes every now and then. And the beauty of it is that they make you feel happy and sad at the same time. Shefali Shah and Jaideep Ahlawat’s Three Of Us is one such movie which will bring back your own childhood memories. And if you have ever spent some part of your childhood years in a small city, you will be able to relate to it better. The movie starts with Shefali Shah resigning from her job in Mumbai. The reason is still unknown and a lot of her eyes do the talking.
Three Of Us is a beautifully slow movie where the dialogues are limited and most of the talking is done through the expressive eyes of Shefali. It is about trying to find your younger self and the real you which sometimes gets lost in the hustle and bustle of city life. [caption id=“attachment_13334182” align=“alignnone” width=“640”] A still from Three Of Us[/caption] Three Of Us has the magic of leaving an impact in your mind and will make you think whether there is something in your life that you have left unsaid or undone. It will give you the urge to go back to your roots; to the place that you actually belong. The best scene from the film is when Shefali Shah and
Jaideep Ahlawat are stuck mid-air in a ferris wheel. Not just the flawless script and the performances, the beautiful set-up of the film in Konkan is absolutely breath-taking. With the subdued music in the background, the movie has nothing that is over the top. It will transport you to a world that you are familiar with. There is no over-reaction or anger in anybody’s mind. In fact, I would say the silence does all the talking. Three Of Us is a film for matured viewers and the way the movie will direct you to the back story, you will feel that it’s your story that is being narrated. There is not a single moment that you will get bored and there is some strange engagement with silence and the slow pace which we hardly get to see in today’s films. Towards the end of the film you will realise why Shefali Shah who plays the role of Shailja wants to go back to her school, meet her first love and visit her childhood home after 28 long years. The story shows the character’s strong attachment to her small city where she has just spent a few years of her teenage life. And mind you there is no holding back, vulgar fights or infidelity in this film. Shefali Shah, Jaideep Ahlawat and Swanand Kirkire have given one of their best performances of the year. The most attractive part of the film is the slow intensity. Rating: 4 out of 5
