While Ranveer Allahabadia continues to garner severe backlash for his distasteful joke on Samay Raina’s show India’s Got Latent, veteran actor Mukesh Khanna said that people should make him ‘sit on a donkey with his face painted black and make him tour the nation’.
“This is a serious offence. It should not be taken lightly. Offenders should be punished heavily in order to discourage people in future from making such ashleel and irresponsible statements. People need to ask, ‘Kya hogaya hai mere desh ko?’” said Mukesh on his YouTube channel Bheeshma International.
He added, “I have watched this famous YouTuber ’s interviews. He has done good work in the past, but now he has gone and spoken about parents and sex. Someone asked me what do you think should be done. I said, ‘You should hold him and beat him. Make him sit on a donkey with his face painted black and make him tour the nation.’”
“The problem is the youth of today has been given too much liberty in the name of ‘Freedom of Expression’. There needs to be a limit to everything, even freedom of expression,” opined Khanna.
“I saw the video. He made a shameful statement, and all of them present around him, they all laughed. Nobody cared to object him,” he said, adding, “Mai agar Shaktimaan hota toh ise pakad ke antariksh mein fek deta. (If I were Shaktimaan, I would drag him and throw him in the galaxy).”
The actor said, “They say all these inappropriate things are allowed when ‘roasting’ someone. I don’t think anything morally wrong should be allowed.”
“Previously, kids used to have a subject called Moral Science in their schools. Today most of the schools don’t have it. Who decided it for them? This is the reason why these youths turn out to be like this? There is a line between comedy and vulgarity, and this line is being crossed constantly in the name of comedy. The audience should reject this kind of content. If audience won’t reject them, then government will have to intervene. Nobody should be able to freely say vulgar things in the name of comedy. YouTube is just a medium to earn. I too have 13 lakh subscribers. This is no school, or college. People should not use vulgarity to earn money,” said the actor.
He also bashed Vir Das in the video and said, “An incident like this had happened before when a comedian went on an international stage and said, ‘Humarein desh mein subah kuch raat ko kuch aur hota hai.’ I had said back then, people should catch him and beat him up. I even demanded people to ban him, but no attention was paid.”
