Vidya Balan has had a topsy turvy career in these nearly two decades. With Parineeta and Lage Raho Munna Bhai, she proved to be a solid and reliable performer that had the charm and the screen presence to pull the characters off. With Heyy Babyy and Kismat Konnection, she went off the rails, only resurrecting herself with the delicious Ishqiya, the rollicking The Dirty Picture, and the gripping Kahaani. Oh yes, in between, there was this film called Bhool Bhulaiyaa!
Did you know Priyamani, who acted in films like Raavan, Jawan, and Maidaan and also did a special song in Shah Rukh Khan’s Chennai Express, is Balan’s distant cousin? In an interview with News18 Showsha, the actress spilled the beans on Vidya and this is what she had to say.
The actress revealed, “We have never been on talking terms in that way even though we are related. However, I speak more to her father. Balan uncle is on a regular talking basis with me.”
She added, “And when he can’t get through to me, he calls up my father and they chat up. Vidya Balan is a phenomenal actor, the mutual admiration is always there. I can’t wait for her to come back on screens. As an audience, I am really missing the powerful actor that she is.”
Priyamani said, “I am not on that personal level with Shah Rukh sir that I would just simply message him. But I am very happy for him. I messaged Pooja Dadlani (SRK’s manager) though and passed on my congratulations through her. I hope I meet him soon.”
On the work-life balance
Apart from talking about Vidya Balan , Priyamani spoke about this topic too and said, “t is completely subjective. There are times when you will have to adjust which is okay and you should make room for it.”
