Taking to Instagram, the Darbar actress mentioned that during the making of her upcoming documentary,  Nayanthara: Beyond the Fairytale , which premiered on Netflix on 18th November, 2024, the 39-year-old actress had asked for permission from Dhanush to use visuals from their 2015 movie Naanum Rowdy Dhaan but he refused to give permission & sent her a legal notice for using behind-the-scenes visuals from the sets of the movie. For the unversed, Dhanush was the producer of the Vijay Sethupathi starrer, which was directed by Nayanthara’s husband Vignesh Shivan.

The battle between the parties got uglier with one statement in the media and social media after another. Nayanthara has now landed in trouble again because of her documentary, as the makers of her film Chandramukhi, which saw Superstar Rajinikanth in the lead back in 2005, have sent a legal notice of Rs 5 crore to the actress for using footages from their film without authorized notice.

The notices were issued on a plea filed by AP International, which held the copyright of the film over the original producers, Sivaji Productions. The lady superstar is yet to comment on the matter.

Nayanthara taking a stand for herself

Taking a stand, Nayanthara shared that she will give a befitting reply to the notice and wrote, “I am in receipt of your legal notice and we shall respond to it befittingly through lawful means. Your refusal to give NOC for the use of elements of Naanum Rowdy Dhaan for our Netflix documentary might be justified by you to the courts from the copyright angle but I wish to remind you that there is a moral side to it, which has to be defended in the court of God."
