Shah Rukh Khan was declared the second richest artist in the world back in 2014, and he may have had a lull at the box-office for a few years, he made a solid comeback with Pathaan and Jawan. Both the films’ collective business in India is over Rs 1000 crore, a rare feat for any star. He was recently declared the richest Indian actor of 2023 and also the most popular one. Back in 2016, on Zee TV’s show Yaaron Ki Baraat, when SRK graced the show with Anushka Sharma, he revealed he did only one film for money in his career. He said, “I will not take its name, but I have only done one film for money. I have done 60 films till now. I bought my first house from the fees of that film. I needed that money. But when I got financial stability and I started buying my films, that was the first film I bought. I feel I have returned the payment of that film.” He added, “I didn’t have the heart to do that film, but that was the only film for which I sold my conscience for money.” When Shah Rukh Khan didn’t have money to furnish Mannat The ‘King of Romance’ Shah Rukh Khan ’s Mannat residence, situated in the heart of the financial capital, is one of the major attractions for his fans along with tourists. The sea-facing property often sees SRKians clicking pics at the gate and sometimes waiting to catch the glimpse of their favourite star. At the launch of Gauri’s new coffee table book My Life in Design, SRK shared how buying Mannat was beyond their means. “Being from Delhi, one was used to living in bungalows. One did not realise that Mumbai has its own system, where apartments are even more expensive… We are not used to it, not because I was very well off, but because in Delhi, everybody seemed to have a bungalow,” said the Pathaan star.
Back in 2016, on Zee TV’s show Yaaron Ki Baraat, when SRK graced the show with Anushka Sharma, he revealed he did only one film for money in his career. He said, “I will not take its name, but I have only done one film for money.”
