Sarfira Movie Review: Akshay Kumar is back in full form after a long time

Language: Hindi and Marathi

Director: Sudha Kongara Prasad

Cast: Akshay Kumar, Radhika Madan, Paresh Rawal, Seema Biswas, Prakash Belawadi, Anil Charanjeett, Rahul Vohra, Saurabh Goyal

It is a delightful to see Akshay Kumar back in full form after a dry spell. Sarfira is a true story of resilience and determination. And most importantly all you need for a film to be successful is a good director and a story that touches your heart and Sarfira has ticked all those boxes. It’s indeed an aspirational film. Based on real life story of Capt. Gopinath, the founder of India’s first low-cost airline, Air Deccan, the film touches your heart to see the emotional journey of this ex-Indian Air Force pilot who never gave up on his dreams despite all the hurdles that came his way.  It’s a common man’s story who fights all odds to bring about an end to the class and caste divide in our society in his own way. He and his two other friends left the Indian Air Force to make an airline in which all could fly.

Sky is the limit for everybody and the motto of the three friends was that every common man must have the freedom to fly high. A journey driven by ambition, determination and the never give up attitude is what makes Sarfira unique in many ways. Akshay Kumar has done justice to the character of Vir Jagannath Mhatre, a fictional character inspired from a real-life hero, Capt. Gopinath .

Sarfira is a delightful watch because it inspires all of us to dream big. The story of Akshay Kumar’s _Sarfira_ believes in the entrepreneurial spirit of the youth. This fresh spin will strike a chord with the audience for its storytelling. There are several emotional moments too, especially when Vir Jagannath Mhatre (Akshay Kumar), an Air Force pilot, was unable to reach his father when his father was on death-bed because he didn’t have the money to fly. He kept pleading with the people at the airport for money, but nobody helped, saying that only people with money can fly. This was the time when he decided that no matter what he is going to make an airline which will allow all to fly. Filled with thrill and tension, there are several low moments too in Vir Jagannath Mhatre’s (Akshay Kumar) life, when all the high and mighty try to pull him down.

A still from Sarfira

There were several hurdles in his journey and there were many powerful people in the ministry and the airlines industry who tried hard to sabotage his dreams. But no hurdles could stop the strong-headed Vir Jagannath Mhatre (Akshay Kumar). With support from the Indian Air Force, the retired pilots and his wife, Vir Jagannath Mhatre (Akshay Kumar) worked hard to fulfill his dream of making an airline where a safai wala (cleaning woman) could also travel by air. He believes that everything can happen and all you need is to have faith in your dreams which will give it a start.

Akshay Kumar’s performance added depth to the character of Vir Jagannath Mhatre, a simple guy from an  interior village of Maharashtra. From the makers of Airlift, Baby, OMG 2, Toilet, and Jai Bhim, Sarfira is an incredible story set in the world of startups and aviation. The film is all set to inspire the common man to dream big and to chase their dreams even if the world calls you crazy. The story teaches all of us who have been once told in their lives that you cannot, and should not and that you are not capable enough to achieve what you want to in life. It is indeed a big thank you to them, because it is their resistance which allows people to be determined to achieve their dreams.
