Sanya Malhotra starrer Mrs, which premiered on Zee5, garnered critical acclaim among the audiences. The Hindi adaptation of the Malayalam hit The Great Indian Kitchen showcases the patriarchy of the society where the dreams of Richa (Sanya Malhotra) an aspiring dancer get crushed when she gets married and stuck in a circle of household chores.
Now, veteran actor Kanwaljit Singh, who played Sanya’s father-in-law in Mrs., shared that he was disturbed after watching the final cut.
“All I remembered from the shoot was eating a lot of food. After that, I worked on nearly four other projects and forgot about my character. But when I saw the film, I was so disgusted by my character’s behavior that I immediately went to Sanya and apologized," he told India Today.
“Sanya was taken aback and asked why I was saying sorry. I told her I had forgotten how much I troubled her character in the film, and it left me feeling awful. She has absolutely nailed the part, and watching her struggle on screen was heartbreaking for all of us," he elaborated.
While talking to Firstpost, Sanya Malhotra revealed, “My biggest takeaway is that I too am guilty for putting that pressure on my mother. My family saw it and my father came back home and apologized to my mother. And the fact that he was like, ‘Oh my god, I can’t believe I do that too and I’ve done this too. I think that collectively has been our biggest takeaway that we do put a lot of pressure on our mothers.”
