Sanya Malhotra on working with Shah Rukh Khan, says 'fortunate and blessed to be part of Jawan'

Actress Sanya Malhotra, who has acknowledged ‘manifesting’ working with Bollywood’s Baadshah Shah Rukh Khan several times in the past, recently opened up about her latest film Jawan’s historic success in an interview. The 31-year-old actress, who has garnered extensive praise for her role in the action-thriller as SRK’s formidable girl gang, told Pinkvilla how ‘fortunate and blessed’ she is to be a part of the Atlee directorial.

As part of a candid chat with the entertainment news portal, Sanya Malhotra expressed her feelings of being lucky to be a part of the film which has Shah Rukh Khan and Lady Superstar Nayanthara in lead roles. Not just this, the Dangal star also expressed exuberance at being finally offered the opportunity to be cast alongside King Khan.

The actress said, “I feel fortunate to be a part of it and I have been so excited to tell this to people now. I was promoting Kathal and that’s when I first posted anything about being a part of it. So some of my friends had no idea that I was a part of _Jawan_ or in a film with Shah Rukh sir. I got so many reactions, calls and messages from my friends saying ‘Hume kyun nahi bataya’ because who’s not a Shah Rukh Khan fan? The film is massive and I feel so fortunate and blessed to be a part of it.”

Fun session with fans

In yet another fun discussion with fans, Sanya Malhotra was offered a choice between her recent release, Jawan and her first film, Dangal. In her playful response, she shared a boomerang where she motioned in a ’negative’ gesture, humorously indicating that she couldn’t choose between the two films that were so close to her heart.

In the recent, Sanya also posted a video of herself dancing to the track ‘Not Ramaiya Vastavaiya’ from Jawan, announcing how she cannot stop grooving to the beats.

The actress also shared a video on her Instagram feed from Dangal days, with a background score featuring Mitwa song from SRK’s 2006 film Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna in the superstar’s signature style with Shah Rukh’s dialogue from Om Shanti Om added to it.

About Jawan’s girl-gang

As per the plot, Shah Rukh Khan’s character hijacks a Mumbai metro and her powerful girl gang play a crucial role in the film’s narrative. The characters have been brought to life by actresses Sanya Malhotra, Priyamani, Girija Oak, Sanjeeta Bhattacharya, Lehar Khan, and Aaliyah Qureishi, motivated by a compelling desire for revenge.

The film has been helmed by ace Tamil director Atlee under Shah Rukh and Gauri Khan’s production house, Red Chillies Entertainment. It was released theatrically on 7 September in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu languages.

Work-wise, Sanya Malhotra marked her Bollywood debut in 2016 with the blockbuster Dangal, starring Aamir Khan. After that, she appeared in Badhaai Ho, Ludo, Pagglait, Meenakshi Sundareshwar, Love Hostel and HIT - The First Case and more. Before Jawan, the actress was recently seen in Netflix’s Kathal.

Next-up, she will feature in The Great Indian Kitchen’s Hindi remake with Harman Baweja and Meghna Gulzar’s film Sam Bahadur on Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw, co-staring with Vicky Kaushal and Fatima Sana Shaikh.
