It has been a rather dull affair for cinegoers in 2024 but this week, things could perk up but here’s the catch. This week is going to be more exciting for fans and critics at their homes in front of their mobiles, laptops, and television sets more than in cinemas due to the titles streaming on giants like Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, and Zee5.
Here’s what to watch on OTT this week:
Heeramandi: Netflix (May 1)
Sanjay Leela Bhansali makes his what but an opulent debut on streaming with this giant series that boasts off an ensemble of the underdogs; actors who were craving for delicious opportunities but failed to land a tenacious role. They are Fardeen Khan, Shekhar Suman, Adhyayan Suman, Sanjeeda Shaikh, and then stars like Manisha Koirala, Aditi Rao Hydari, Sonakshi Sinha. The show has courtesans, the British Raj, the pre-Independent era, pain, pathos, scale, sorrows, songs, and SLB himself.
The Broken News Season 2 : Zee5 (May 3)
Sonali Bendre and Jaideep Ahlawat continue their battle between sach and sensationalism as the two rival reporters operate on opposite ideological lines. And in between the battle is a naive rookie Shriya Pilgaonkar. The title The Broken News suggests a lot. It represents the fractured and frivolous reporting news channels have stooped to for numbers, it also represents the broken spirits and souls of those that wish to walk on the path of truth. Let’s see how deep season two digs.
Hacks Season 3: JioCinema (May 3)
The Emmy-winning series enters its third season.
Shaitaan : Netflix (May 3)
Two decades after Bhoot, Ajay Devgn stars in one of his most vulnerable roles yet. But unlike that RGV horror where his wife was possessed by a spirit longing for revenge and justice, this time, Vikas Bahl weaves the story around black magic. A remake of the Gujarati film Vash, Shaitaan emerged as a commercial success.
