Ranbir Kapoor starrer Animal, which released last year in December, turned out to be a humongous blockbuster at the global box office. However, it garnered criticism from a section of audience along with some celebs, who bashed it for showcasing toxic masculinity.
Director Sandeep Reddy Vanga reacted to memes and criticism on social media. Now, the producer of the film Bhushan Kumar has reacted to the situation.
When asked whether he is okay with memes and reactions on social media that surfaced after Animal’s release, he told Zoom, “Absolutely! Sometimes my director is not [okay], he replies too much and I keep explaining to him, ‘Don’t bother. It’s benefitting our film only.’ See all said and done, it has become a cult film. Everybody is waiting for part 2. We’ve done ₹900 crores of gross all over the world, so it’s humungous. People want to talk, let them talk; that doesn’t bother us.”
Talking about review, Firstpost gave the film 3.5 stars and wrote, “The runtime of Animal is over 3 hours and 20 minutes and I can assure you there won’t be any moment where you feel the movie is boring. Throughout the film something is happening which will keep you hooked to the screens and the credit goes to Vanga’s superb editing skills and storytelling.
Talking about the performances, Ranbir Kapoor lives in and out to deliver one of his career-defining roles. Honestly, I wouldn’t have ever imagined that after being Bunny and Mickey from Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani and Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar, RK would go so dark, gore and violent and do this crazy stuff with Animal and that too like a boss. On the whole, Animal is an adrenaline experience which will have polarising views but you can’t deny its entertaining quotient, breathtaking performances and storytelling.”
