Sandeep Reddy Vanga is fresh off the success of Animal and also made another blockbuster called Kabir Singh in 2019. However, many people from the industry and otherwise openly spoke about the violence and misogyny in his films and he responded to each of them. He has now responded to Aamir Khan’s former wife and filmmaker Kiran Rao, who called out Kabir Singh and even Baahubali 2 for their misogyny. In an interview with Dainik Bhaskar, he said, “Today morning, my AD showed me an article. It is of the second ex-wife of a superstar. She is saying that films like Bahubaali 2 and Kabir Singh promote misogyny and stalking. I think she does not know the difference between stalking and approaching. When people read these things out of context, they tend to agree. This is entirely wrong."

He continued, “I would like to say to that woman, ‘Go ask Aamir Khan , ‘Is she like a pillar, a girl, or a firecracker?’ What was that?” Then come back to me. If you remember Dil, he almost creates the situation towards an attempted rape, and it makes her realise that she was wrong. She ultimately falls in love. What is all this? I don’t understand why they attack like that before checking the surroundings.” The action thriller received immense praise from all corners. While a section of people called out the director for promoting a misogynistic approach and glorifying violent scenes in the film, many heaped praises on the director for his direction. Recently, Anurag Kashyap took to his social media to praise the Animal director who he thinks is currently the most ‘misunderstood and judged’ filmmaker at the moment. The Dev D director’s post comes after Sandeep Reddy Vanga, in a recent interview, lashed out at those who called his film ‘misogynistic’. He said calling his films the same is ‘inappropriate’.
