Samir Soni, known for his roles in Baghban and Fashion, will be seen as principal in Student of the Year 2
This is Samir Soni's second film with the Student of the Year 2 director Punit Malhotra after the 2010 film I Hate Luv Storys, starring Sonam Kapoor and Imran Khan.

Actor Samir Soni has been a recognised face on Indian film and television for quite some time now. His performances in films like Baghban, Lajja, Fashion, I Hate Luv Storys and television shows like Jassi Jaisi Koi Nahin, Parichay, Bewafaa Sii Wafaa are some major highlights in his career.
He is all set to be seen in the upcoming film Student of the Year 2 as the school principal, the role which was played by Rishi Kapoor in the 2012 prequel.
In an interview with DNA, Soni revealed his excitement about the project. "SOTY 2 is a fresh story, only the franchise is being carried forward. Rishi is the finest actor we have. He did a fabulous job in the first part and people remember him. I am nervous and excited to step into his shoes, although it’s not the same character. I’m looking forward to the challenge," said the actor.
He also revealed that his role would be quite different from that of Rishi Kapoor's in the first installment. He won't be playing a gay character, but will have his own quirks; he will not play the "normal, boring" principal.
