While Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda starrer Saiyaara has slowed down at the box office in its third week due to the dominance of Mahavatar Narsimha, the romantic musical drama continues to break records at the box office.
_Saiyaara_ currently stands with a grand total of around Rs 310.50 crore and will soon cross the lifetime business of Hrithik Roshan and Tiger Shroff starrer War (Rs 318.01 crore) and Salman Khan’s Bajrangi Bhaijaan (Rs 320.34 crore) to become the 10th highest Bollywood grosser of all time. Who would have imagined that a love story headlined by newcomers would make it to the list of top 10 Bollywood grossers of all time?
Before the release of the movie, director Mohit Suri spoke about Saiyaara’s comparison with Aashiqui 2 in an interview with Firstpost. He said, “When I made Zeher, they said it looked like Murder. When I made Ek Villain, they said it looked like Murder 2. When I made Malang, they said it looked like Ek Villain. When I made Aashiqui 2, they said it looked like Woh Lame and Rockstar. So I think when I go ahead and make my next film, they’ll say it looks like Saiyaara. I think when they’re comparing it to my own work rather than somebody else’s, it’s good.”
Saiyaara is directed by Mohit Suri, known for helming movies like Aashiqui 2, Ek Villain, Awarapan, Kalyug, Zeher, Murder 2, Woh Lamhe, Raaz: The Mystery Continues, Hamari Adhuri Kahani, Half Girlfriend, Crook, Ek Villain Returns & Malang.
