 "Saif Ali Khan attacked with knife multiple times during robbery attempt at his Mumbai residence, admitted to Lilavati hospital")
Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan was injured after an intruder attacked him with a knife at his residence in Mumbai, police said on Thursday. Khan was hospitalised following the incident which took place around midnight at the actor’s house in the Bandra area, they said.
“An unknown person entered actor Saif Ali Khan ’s residence and argued with his maid, late last night. When the actor tried to intervene and pacify the man, he attacked Saif Ali Khan and injured him. Police are investigating the matter,” said Mumbai Police.
As per initial information, an unidentified person entered Khan’s house and both of them had a rescue. Some family members of the actor were present in the house at the time of the incident, an official said.
Khan was injured in knife attack by the intruder. He was taken to the Lilavati Hospital in Bandra and was reported to be out of danger, the official said.
“We are investigating the matter. The Mumbai crime branch is conducting a parallel investigation into the incident,” the police officer said.
After receiving information about the incident, the Bandra police reached the spot and launched an investigation, he said.
Niraj Uttamani, Lilavati Hospital’s chief operating officer revealed that Saif Ali Khan was hospitalised at 3: 30am with six injuries of which two are deeper.
“One of the injuries is closer to his spine. Neurosurgeon Nitin Dange, cosmetic surgeon Leena Jain, and anaesthetist Nisha Gandhi are operating on him. We will be able to tell the extent of the damage only after the surgery is done,” he said.
Saif Ali Khan’s official team team confirmed the details, with an official statement, which reads, “There was an attempted burglary at Mr Saif Ali Khan’s residence. He is currently in hospital undergoing a surgery. We request the media and fans to be patient. It is a police matter. We will keep you updated on the situation.”
Kareena Kapoor’s team also shared an official statement, which read, “There was an attempted burglary in Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan’s residence last night. Saif had an injury on his arm for which is in hospital, undergoing a procedure. The rest of the family is doing fine. We request media and fans to be patient and not speculate any further as the Police is already doing their due investigations. Thank you all for your concern.”
