Filmmaker Alphonse Puthran, who’s known for making the blockbuster Premam with Sai Pallavi, has announced he shall be quitting film direction. The filmmaker shared a note on Instagram and spoke about a disorder, but deleted the post later What happened? The filmmaker revealed he was suffering from Autism Spectrum Disorder. His post read, “I’m stopping my cinema theatre career. I have Autism Spectrum Disorder which I found out yesterday on my own. I don’t want to be burden to anyone else. I will continue doing songs and videos and short films and maximum on OTT. I don’t want to quit cinema, but I have no other option. I don’t want to make promises that I can’t keep. When health is weak or unpredictable, life brings a twist like an interval punch.” He captioned the post, “I’m sorry to everyone for not being healthy. I don’t know what the reason is. I had this issue from childhood, this is what I think after understanding about Autism. That’s why the delay in films I guess. But I wouldn’t stop entertaining you all.” The filmmaker had announced a film with Fahadh Faasil. Fahadh Faasil would lead _Premam_ director Alphonse Puthren’s next Malayalam film Paattu. The project would be bankrolled by Zacharia Thomas and Alwin Antony of UGM Entertainment. The rest of cast and crew would be soon announced, but the project never took off. Alphonse’s directorial debut was the 2013 black comedy thriller Neram in 2013, simultaneously made in Malayalam and Tamil. Nivin Pauly, Nazriya Nazim and Bobby Sinha starred in both versions. This was followed by Nivin-led coming-of-age drama _Premam_ in 2015. Alphone debuted as producer with 2018’s Thobama.
