In a major triumph, Lily Gladstone, after defeating frontrunner Emma Stone at the Screen Actors Guild Awards, won her first SAG for her performance in Killers of the Flower Moon. During the ceremony that took place on 24 February, the actress received the ‘Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Leading Role’ award for her performance as Mollie Burkhart in the Martin Scorsese film. While this comes as a big win for Gladstone, it is now to be seen if she manages to make it big at the upcoming Academy Awards.
Going by the record last year, there seems to be a ‘deja vu’ situation. Last year, Cate Blanchett and Michelle Yeoh were in a neck-to-neck race for the Oscars. While Blanchett scored early with a Volpi Cup, a Golden Globe, a Critics Choice, and finally a BAFTA, Yeoh later won the Golden Globe and SAG, only to bag the gold statuette at the 95th Academy Awards last year.
A similar picture seems to have been created once again. While Emma Stone started early on with the Golden Globe, Critics Choice, and BAFTA, Lily Gladstone now has the Golden Globe along with the SAG. It is now yet to be seen whether Lily will be able to maintain her winning streak to become the first Native American winner in the category.
On the other hand, Emma Stone, who has gained a lot of praise for her performance as Bella Baxter in Poor Things, may come out as a double Oscar winner if she bags the deal this year.

The actress was seen jumping out of her seat and clapping enthusiastically for Lily. Notably, Emma was also nominated in the same category for her performance in Poor Things. Others in the race were Annette Bening for Nyad, Carey Mulligan for Maestro, and Margot Robbie for Barbie, who were also seen equally cheering for Gladstone.
