Ronit Roy reveals he used to address Hrithik Roshan as 'Sir' during 'Kaabil'

Actors Hrithik Roshan and Ronit Roy worked together on the 2017 film Kaabil. Having known each other for many years and being old friends, it was the first time that the two shared the screen. In his recent interview, Ronit Roy spoke about his equation with the Vikram Vedha actor. In his interview with Lehren Retro, Ronit Roy shared a behind-the-scenes incident from the sets of Kaabil, recalling how he used to address Hrithik as ‘sir’ out of courtesy, further riding that this didn’t go quite well with the actor.

Recalling the time on the sets, Ronit Roy said that as he had never worked with Hrithik, he decided to play it safe and addressed him as ‘sir’. But Hrithik immediately objected to the formal address.

Ronit Roy recounted that it was the very next day during lunch that he was called by Hrithik in his vanity van. Unsure about whether he made a mistake or if Hrithik wanted to discuss a scene, Ronit went into his van. Inside, the Vikram Vedha actor asked his team to give them some privacy and directly conveyed to Rohit about an issue.

During the conversation, Hrithik expressed that it is difficult for him to maintain their friendship when Ronit Roy addresses him as ‘sir’. Further mentioning that he used to call him ‘Duggu’ in the past, the actor questioned his sudden change.

Recounting this incident, Ronit Roy appreciated Hrithik’s candidness, further calling it a “thoughtful and wonderful gesture” on his part.

Rohit Roy’s praises for Hrithik Roshan

Notably, this is not the first time Hrithik’s kind behaviour has received praise. Ronit Roy’s brother Rohit Roy was also a part of Kaabil. Earlier in an interaction, Rohit recalled an incident sharing how the actor offered him his own crash mat for an action scene.

It was the last day of the shoot when Hrithik and Rohit had to shoot an action scene where the latter would get a hit from him and was supposed to fall. However, with no crash mat, Hrithik refused to give the shot and instead called for his own crash mat for Rohit.

Touched by this gesture, Rohit praised Hrithik, calling him one of the “most giving actors” in the industry.
