'Rise And Fall' show host Ashneer Grover: 'I have seen more trial than anybody else and...'

Ashneer Grover is a successful entrepreneur who rose to fame with the immensely popular show Shark Tank India. He’s now donning a new hat as the host of Rise and Fall, a reality show that’s also going viral on social media, and Grover happens to be the host. And he has spoken about the concept, the comparisons with Salman Khan’s Bigg Boss, and his own real life experiences while hosting it.

When asked about the offer that came his way, Grover revealed, “I was already hosting Shark Tank, which was already pretty successful. So the makers felt that there was a television audience for me. I was getting a lot of offers for shows that were similar to that. They were business and investment shows. When this idea came about, I felt there was a lot of merit. People in India love to watch reality. And then the divide between the have and have nots will make it more interesting.”

On the responses and comments on his hosting

There are some people who like to troll you and some people think you’re doing a show against someone else. The general response has been amazing and the promo has the highest number of shows which means people have looked forward to the concept. The show belongs to the contestants as opposed to a single personality.

On being himself while hosting the show

Shark Tank was more about being straight-jacketed. This is pre-dominantly about entertainment. That is an element I’ll get to explore myself and I’m moving out of my comfort zone. This is a show where there’s going to be a match among equals in these celebrities. It’s going to be very interesting for the viewers. Some contestants will land up in luxury and some in the basement. No one knows who’s going to win.

Talking about Rise and Fall’s quality that makes it stand out, Ashneer said, “This is a brand new show so there is no taboo in being a contestant here. And because of that, you are able to attract high-quality people to be a part of the show. In other shows, there’s a stigma being a part of them. All the contestants in this show are happy being a part of the same platform. The divide of the house is the key part and hopefully I’m also the one.”

The host also revealed something interesting about himself and said, “I have seen more trial than anybody else. I’m very used to it. As long as people are interested and intrigued, that’s the key. As long as we have the viewership, that’s the key.”
