Rapper Santy Sharma of Housefull 5 fame opens up on struggles & breakthroughs: 'I want to see myself growing as a national artist'

There are numerous pathways to success in the entertainment industry. Some achieve chart-topping fame in no time, while others grind for years at their craft. Santy Sharma, an Indian rapper and singer from a middle-class background, recently opened about his journey on a podcast, where he discussed his obstacles, triumphs, and career-defining moments. He spoke about his contributions to Housefull 5, which was released in June 2025. Sharma wrote and recorded an anthem rap track that plays during the entrance of Sanjay Dutt and Jackie Shroff in the film.

In the conversation, Santy made it clear that he doesn’t want to be considered a regional artist. “I want to see myself growing as a national artist, not a regional artist,” he said. He went on to clarify, “It is our job as artists to just make our work; we do not have to care what people are saying—only then can we become something in life.”

Remembering his struggles, he stated that at one time, he had removed a page from a newspaper that was covering his first song, just to not show it to his father. he explained, the struggles he faced at the beginning only motivated him even further to pursue music.

During the Podcast, he also talked about his Early life, Education, Family, and Friends. he said," I have completed my graduation in 5 years instead of 3 years due to artistic activities. Asking about family support, he said that in the beginning, there was a lack of support, but gradually family started supporting him. Also, on a friend’s question, he said friends are the only one who helps you to do anything with cross-check, and he has close school life friends till now.

Santy has put out his first solo album, Reborn, which took him over two years to complete. The Reborn song on the album unlocked the opportunity for him to collaborate with Housefull 5. He mentioned he is currently working on several new projects, will continue to explore these various genres to extend his versatility as an artist.
