Ranveer Singh's 'Dhurandhar', Ranbir Kapoor's 'Ramayana', SS Rajamouli' 'Varanasi', Om Raut's 'Kalam: The Missile Man of India': The upcoming magnum opuses of Indian cinema

There are filmmakers who create a film, and there are directors who create a universe. Whether it’s with a mythological essence or a creation inspired by real life, here’s looking at directors and actors who are creating larger-than-life spectacles.

Sriram Raghavan - Ikkis
Ace filmmaker Sriram Raghavan is coming up with Ikkis, starring Agastya Nanda and Simar Bhatia. The film is inspired by a real-life story about Second Lieutenant Arun Khetarpal, the youngest recipient of the Param Vir Chakra. Helmed by Raghavan, Ikkis is set against the background of the 1971 India-Pakistan war and promises to showcase both talents in never-seen-before avatars.

Laxman Utekar - Eetha
Filmmaker Laxman Utekar is coming up with his next biopic, Eetha, starring Shraddha Kapoor. The actress will embody the legendary Marathi folk artist Vithabai Narayangaonkar and will explore her life and her significant contributions to Tamasha folk theatre.

Montoo Bassi - White
Filmmaker Montoo Bassi is coming up with a biopic titled ‘White’, starring Vikrant Massey. The film is based on Shri Ravi Shankar’s peace efforts during Colombia’s civil war, and it will be shot mainly in Colombia with the Narcos crew.

SS Rajamouli- Varanasi

S S Rajamouli on Saturday unveiled the title of his next mega project “Varanasi” at a grand fan event held at Ramoji Film City here in the presence of its stars Mahesh Babu, Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Prithviraj Sukumaran.

Babu said it was a dream project and the whole country will be proud of the movie where he plays the protagonist Rudra.

Aditya Dhar- Dhurandhar

Based on true-life events and tipped as the biggest and boldest release to close out 2025, the film is a pulse-pounding look into the high-stakes world of covert operatives, where every decision is a matter of life and death, and the battle for the nation is fought in the shadows.
