Actress Lara Dutta, whose latest web series Ranneeti: Balakot & Beyond released today, lauded PM Narendra Modi for speaking about the Muslim community quota, a hot topic nationwide.
“Ultimately, we’re all human beings. It’s incredibly challenging to appease everyone all the time. Just as actors aren’t immune to online criticism, neither is the Prime Minister of our country. We all take it in our stride. You can’t constantly tiptoe around issues just to avoid upsetting one side or the other. Ultimately, you have to stay true to your beliefs and convictions. If he has the courage to do so, then kudos. Ultimately, you have to stand by what you believe in,” Lara Dutta said while talking to Zoom.
At a recent rally in Rajasthan, PM Modi had said when the Congress party was in government “they said Muslims have the first right over the country’s resources.’ If it returns to power, the party ‘will gather all your wealth and distribute it among those who have more children. They will distribute it among infiltrators,” he continued, “Do you think your hard-earned money should be given to infiltrators?”
“When one of ours is at stake, we will do whatever that is necessary.”

In an exclusive interview with Firstpost, Lara Dutta spoke about her character in _Ranneeti_ and said, “Manisha Sehgal is a vibrant character. I have to give her that, but I think the show is really about everyday ordinary people who have a certain job that they do, but none of them really expect one day to walk into the office and be faced with a war scenario, right? I mean, That’s something that you want to avoid at all costs, but when you are functioning at that level within the government, within the military, those are scenarios that at some point of time or the other have high probability of happening. So when you’re faced with something that’s intense a scenario you don’t forget, you don’t stop becoming human, right? Even in sometimes humor diffuses even a really tense situation. So I think when you’re building out a character, you can’t have a preconceived notion in your mind about, Oh, this character never smiles or this because this thing is so intense, I’m going to play it out that way. There are human elements of yours that will come into your performance regardless. And I think that’s just about trying to keep it as natural as you possibly can.”
