Ranbir Kapoor-Sai Pallavi's 'Ramayana' becomes Indian cinema's most expensive film with a budget of Rs 835 crore: Report

Ranbir Kapoor and Sai Pallavi are coming together for Nitesh Tiwari’s magnum opus trilogy called Ramayana. A source told Bollywood Hungama that this shall be the costliest Indian film ever made with a budget of Rs 835 crore. A source was quoted saying, “The film requires 600 days of post-production work, which in itself speaks volumes about the investment required to create some of the most original visuals.”

A source of Times Now had something else to share. “These are inflated figures being planted to generate curiosity. In truth, such astronomical budgetary numbers are impossible. From what I know the project’s producers are currently looking at a budget of Rs 500-550 crores. Anything beyond that would be fatal for the project,” said the anonymous source.

It added, “Anything beyond that would be fatal for the project. They want to make the most lavish version of Ramayana . But they also want to make sure they don’t assign a budget that would be impossible to recover.”

After playing a severely sick man in Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Animal, Ranbir Kapoor takes on the purest character he could have ever played- Lord Ram. Director Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana featuring Ranbir Kapoor and Sai Pallavi is one of the highly-anticipated films of Bollywood.

And according to a report by Times of India, Kapoor is likely to be paid Rs 225 crore for the trilogy and Sai Pallavi is likely to take home Rs 20 crore. While the buzz of the mythological epic drama is sky-high, the leaked pics of the lead actors as Lord Rama and Goddess Sita have surfaced online. Undoubtedly, their majestic look has raised our excitement for Ramayana.
