In the last few years, Rana Daggubati has proved his versatility by portraying a variety of roles. After playing the menacing villain Bhallaldev in SS Rajamouli’s Baahubali, the actor will now reportedly play a scientist in Dhwanil Mehta’s Vijli - Mistery of the Phantom Ship, as per a Mumbai Mirror report. YouTube screengrab.[/caption] Based on the disappearance of SS Vaitarna, popularly known as Vijli or Haji Kasam ni Vijli, a steamship off the coast of Saurashtra region of Gujarat in 1888, the film will reportedly see Daggubati engaged in an attempt to discover the reason behind the disappearance. More than 700 people went missing after after the ship got stuck in a cyclonic storm, and the event gave rise to multiple folktales and poems. Although the actor and director are yet to confirm the project, reports say that the makers are already on a recce to find appropriate locations. The actor is not completely unfamiliar with the subject as he had played a naval officer in Sankalp Reddy’s 2017 war film The Ghazi Attack. Apart from taking on diverse roles on the big screen across industries, the actor has also recently forayed into the digital space with _Social_ , India’s first bilingual web-series .
