Rajkummar Rao to be appointed as Election Commission's national icon ahead of Assembly polls

Bollywood actor Rajkummar Rao will be appointed as the national icon ahead of Assembly elections in five states. The Election Commission of India informed that a formal ceremony will be held regarding this on Thursday, 26 October. Over 161 million people are expected to cast their franchise in five states across the country. The actor has been roped in by the polling body in order to encourage a maximum number of citizens to exercise their right to vote and elect their choice of candidate through the polls. Assembly elections due in five states Mizoram will see a single phase of voting on 7 November. Madhya Pradesh will also witness a single phase polling on 17 November. On the other hand, Chhattisgarh will have polling in two phases - on 7 and 17 November. Rajasthan will conduct polls in single phase on 23 November while Telangana will have a single phase voting on 30 November. The votes for all five states will be counted on 3 December. What Chief Election Commissioner said According to Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar, the elections in these five states will hold a unique significance as this is going to be the final round of Assembly polls ahead of the high-octane general elections in 2024. Rajkummar Rao ’s work commitments On the professional front, the actor has several films in the kitty. He will be seen sharing screen with his Roohi co-star Janhvi Kapoor in Mr and Mrs Mahi. The release date of the film is yet to be declared. He has also begun shooting for Stree 2 with Shraddha Kapoor. Additionally, Rajkummar Rao will be featured in family entertainer, Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video, alongside Tripti Dimri. He also has the biopic of industrialist Srikant Bolla - Sri.
