Making a revelation, Ranjeet reminisced when Kapoor showed him the album of those times during their conversation “Mera Naam Joker picture thi na… uski heroine.

He continued, “He told us, ‘Mera Naam Joker ki heroine ko god mein bithakar scene samjhaaya hai (I made them sit on my lap and narrated the scenes). He wasn’t being flirtatious while doing so. He would call the actress ‘putar’ (daughter) when he asked her to sit on his lap.”

Directed by Raj Kapoor, who also played the titular role, Mera Naam Joker also featured Simi Garewal, Rishi Kapoor, Kseniya Ryabinkina, Padmini, Manoj Kumar and Dharmendra in prominent roles. Over the years, the film has garnered the status of a ‘cult classic’ among the audience.

In the same interview, the actor recalled the time when all big stars used to party at his home and said, “ Reena Roy would make paranthas, Parveen Babi would make drinks, Moushumi Chatterjee would make fish, Neetu Kapoor would make bhindi, it used to be that kind of atmosphere. People like Rajesh Khanna would drink one-two bottles in a night… I was blessed. I believed that the house that welcomes guests is blessed by god. I had enough space so I would entertain people. There was enough staff also.”
