When the first part of Pushpa (Pushpa: The Rise) in December 2021, it turned out to be a pan-India rage. While Allu Arjun’s swag as Pushpa Raj spread like wildfire, Shreyas Talpade’s impeccable voice of the lead star in the Hindi dubbed version made the film a massy treat in the northern part of India. Right from performances, direction to songs, choreography and action sequences, Pushpa: The Rise aced every department and emerged as a bonafide blockbuster.

Now, 3 years after the first part, Pushpa is back to rule the red sandalwood industry and the box office. While Pushpa 2 (Pushpa: The Rule) has enjoyed record-breaking booking sales, let’s see if it’s bigger, grander and better than the first part.

The opening sequence of Pushpa 2: The Rule starts with a massy scene at Yokohama port, Japan, where Allu Arjun hunts down Japanese goons like a one-many army with his charismatic swag. However, he is shot by their chief and while he falls into the sea from the crane, he recalls his childhood moment, where other kids tease him for being an illegitimate child.

In the next scene, where we see Pushpa waking up from a nightmare and Srivalli gives her support.

Pushpa, who is now the President of Syndicate, goes limitless in terms of power and swag. Mangalam Srinu (Sunil) and Dakshayani (Anasuya Bharadwaj) are against Pushpa and want to take revenge on him.

On the other hand, SP Bhanwar Singh Shekhawat IPS (Fahadh Faasil) is thirsty to take revenge from him for what he did (in the climax of the first part). Now, Bhanwar, Mangalam and Dakshayani gang up to plan different strategies to destroy Pushpa but every time it backfires them.

In this cat-and-mouse game and the epic face-off between Pushpa and Shekhawat, we see some great goosebump moments along with seetimaar sequences. The heroism shown in the movie is bigger, grander, larger-than-life and goes beyond imagination.

Director B.Sukumar once again delivers a massy entertainer, which has every element comprised of action-packed sequences, peppy songs, amazing choreography, emotional moments and whistle-worthy dialogues. Special credit goes to editor Naveen Nooli for cutting the movie in such an intriguing way that despite having a runtime of 3 hours 21 minutes, there is not a single dull moment.

Talking about the performances, Allu Arjun once again hits the bullseye with his swagger king and makes you cheer and fall in love with Pushpa all over again. Right from his intense and powerful expressions to his charismatic swag, it’s Allu Arjun’s show all the way. Rashmika Mandanna as Srivalli is cute and charming. Fahadh Faasil is simply superb but I still feel that his character was not written properly. Jagapathi Babu’s character is there for a brief time but we will get to see more of him in the next part. Yes, you read it right. Pushpa 3 is in the making.
