Prahlad Kakkar is known as the ad-guru of the industry. He’s a veteran in his own right with years of experience. While speaking to The Print recently, he recalled the time when he was being trained under veteran filmmaker Shyam Benegal. “We were all slaves. And though he imparted knowledge to us, though he allowed us access to him, he couldn’t stand fools,” Kakkar revealed. When asked about his mentees, Kakkar said, “It depends on who the mentee is. If the mentee has an opinion of himself, which everybody seems to have today, and an entitlement, they won’t last. But if they have humility, and they come with no expectations except to learn, then you will last, because your search is for knowledge, and you will go to any length, including being belittled, being criticised, being used as cannon fodder, but it’s all a part of the learning.” On making his mentees clean toilets He said, “I realised that men had a huge problem about detail, compared to women… We had to pick and choose who we thought was the most hungry… I’m not going to sit and explain to you why I want you to clean the ladies’ toilet, because you (messed) up on the set and cost me large amounts of money. Either you do this or leave.” The ad filmmaker added, “We had to go through the same process with Shyam . It’s a legacy which has been passed on. All the people who trained with Shyam became excellent filmmakers. If he realised that your lack of humility was getting in the way of your learning, he’d be very hard on you.” R__ead all the Latest News , Trending News , Cricket News , Bollywood News , India News and Entertainment News here.
