In what came as a major shock for all across the entertainment industry and social media was the sudden death news of Poonam Pandey. The model-actress passed away on Friday, 2 February, aged 32, her team confirmed in a message over Instagram. Poonam was battling cervical cancer and was in the last stage of her condition. Pandey, whose last post on social media was at an event, was also spotted attending another event just a few days back, looking healthy and happy. However, little did we know that it was the last time we would see her.

During her last public appearance, Poonam Pandey not only spoke to the media but also obliged them by posing for pictures. During the media interaction, the actress was seen talking about her Lock Upp co-contestant and Bigg Boss 17 winner Munawar Faruqui.

Upon being asked for her reaction to Munawar emerging as the winner of Bigg Boss 17, Poonam was seen heaping praises on him. “I was supporting Munawar from Day 1. I knew somewhere that he would win. I have lived with him for three months in Lock Upp, I know that brain. I am glad he won,” she said further congratulating him on his victory.

For the unversed, both Poonam Pandey and Munawar Faruqui were contestants on Lock Upp. While Poonam was a semi-finalist on the show, Munawar emerged as the winner.

On Friday, the actress’ team took to her official social media handle and shared the news of her unfortunate demise. “This morning is a tough one for us. Deeply saddened to inform you that we have lost our beloved Poonam to cervical cancer. Every living form that ever came in contact with her was met with pure love and kindness. In this time of grief, we would request for privacy while we remember her fondly for all that we shared,” the statement read.

Further, her team while confirming the news to News18 said, “She passed away last night.”
