The announcement of the
biopic on Prime Minister Narendra Modi had created a lot of buzz on the internet, with
netizens opining on the casting of Vivek Oberoi as the PM. With
_The Accidental Prime Minister_ becoming the centre of controversy owing to its subject matter, producer Sandip Ssingh has cleared the air about the nature of the biopic titled PM Narendra Modi, stating that it is a human story and not a political movie. interview with News18, Ssingh described the film as “a story about a human, about achievement, simplicity, about a leader who inspires us, who thought that from a chaiwala, he can become the prime minister,” adding that it is “not a political film,” but an “inspiring” one. Talking about casting Vivek Oberoi in the titular role, Ssingh said that the team needed a talented actor who could dedicate two years of his life to one project. He further said that they conducted over 15 look tests. He also said that Vivek’s makeup took about seven hours. The release date of PM Narendra Modi has not been finalised yet, confirmed Ssingh when asked if the film was aiming for a release during the 2019 General Elections. Ssingh has earlier been associated with films such as Bhoomi and Sarbjit.
