Noted senior Kannada actor 'Uncle' Lokanath passes away aged 91 in Bengaluru

Noted veteran Kannanda actor CH Lokanath  passed away on Monday after suffering cardiac arrest. He was 91 years old and is survived by four daughters and a son.   [caption id=“attachment_5815331” align=“alignnone” width=“825”] Lokanath. Twitter Lokanath. Twitter[/caption] As per reports,  the actor breathed his last at around 12.10 am. Lokanath’s moral remains will be kept in the premises of Ravindra Kalakshetra on Monday afternoon for the fans to visit.  Family sources said that the final procedure will be taken at a ceremony at Banashankari at 4 pm.

Lokanath has worked for six decades in the industry and has featured in about 650 films and over 1,000 plays. The actor made his debut in the Kannada film industry with the film  Samskara in  the 1970s, which went on to win a National Award. Affectionately called Uncle within the Kannada film industry, the actor has worked with senior actors like late Vishnuvardhan and Shankar Nag.

Lokanath was last seen in films Bheema Theeradalli and Re. His famous movies are Bhootayyana Maga Ayyu, Minchina Ota, Nagarahaavu, Nodi Swami Navidru Heege, Katha Sangama and Kittu Puttu. He also acted in the Malgudi Days TV series.

His unfortunate demise comes only a day after the death of another gem of Indian cinema, Bengali filmmaker Mrinal Sen , who breathed his last at the age of 95 on 30 December.
